What the Role Entails

We are looking for a Global Communications Specialist to support the company’s global and regional communications efforts across artificial intelligence and related technologies.

The role will serve as a communications partner to business, product and technology teams. The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of Tencent’s evolving AI strategy, Hunyuan models, applications, cloud capabilities, and broader industry trends, and communicate these complex and rapidly evolving developments in ways that are clear, accurate, and relevant for global audiences, including media, customers, users, partners and other stakeholders.

Working closely with the core Global Communications team, the role will contribute to the development of Tencent’s global and regional messaging and help lead communications initiatives that strengthen the thought leadership and reputation of Tencent Hy and the company’s broader application of AI and cloud technologies across different industries.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of international markets, together with the perspective and cultural sensitivity required to communicate Tencent’s technology and business approach effectively across different regions.

The individual should also be curious about emerging communications channels and be comfortable working across traditional media, social media, podcasts, video platforms and other digital formats.

• Serve as a key communications contact for relevant business, product, engineering and research teams.
• Develop a strong understanding of Tencent’s evolving AI, large model and cloud strategies, technologies, products and applications.
• Identify communications opportunities arising from product developments, customer use cases, research, partnerships and industry trends.
• Study global AI developments and industry narratives to understand how the technology landscape and public conversation are evolving.
• Translate complex technical and business information into clear, accessible and compelling narratives for international audiences.
• Ensure that messaging related to AI, large models and cloud reflects the company’s business priorities, innovation, technological strengths and long-term positioning.

• Develop and execute communications initiatives that strengthen Tencent’s thought leadership in cloud computing, enterprise AI, foundation models and emerging technologies
• Develop PR materials such as key messages, talking points, Q&As, briefing documents, executive presentations and background materials; as well as media pitches, press materials, briefing documents and interview preparation materials.
• Identify suitable industry topics, platforms and conversations where Tencent executives and technical experts can contribute meaningful perspectives.
• Work with Regional Communications team to adapt global narratives for different markets 

• Explore new ways to communicate Tencent’s cloud and AI stories 
• Work closely with Tencent’s global social media team to develop content for international channels.
• Identify opportunities to repurpose technical, business and executive content across media, social and digital platforms.
• Support the development of editorial calendars, campaign concepts and multimedia content.
• Experiment with new storytelling approaches that make complex AI and cloud topics more engaging and accessible.

Who We Look For

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• Relevant experience in corporate communications, technology communications, public relations, content strategy or a related field.
• Strong understanding of international media and communications practices.
• Ability to understand complex technology and business topics and communicate them clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Experience working with business leaders, product teams, engineers or technical experts.
• Strong project-management and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to coordinate across different business groups and functions.
• Sound judgement and sensitivity when communicating across different markets, cultures and regulatory environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous years of experience working for an AI, cloud, internet or enterprise technology company.
• Familiarity with foundation models, generative AI, enterprise AI, cloud infrastructure or related technologies.
• Existing relationships with international technology, business or trade media.
• Experience developing content for podcasts, video platforms, social media or other emerging communications channels.
• Experience working across both China and international markets.
