Regional Community Lead - Riftbound

Riot is expanding into the Trading Card Game space with Riftbound, and we are looking for a Regional Community Lead to help build and grow its player community in Korea.

As the Regional Community Lead on Korea Publishing team, you will shape how Riftbound engages with Korean players across digital communities, social platforms, creator networks, organized play, retail environments, and in-person experiences. You will translate global community and publishing priorities into locally relevant programs that reflect Korean player behaviors, cultural trends, and the unique dynamics of the trading card game ecosystem. You will build trusted relationships with players, creators, tournament organizers, hobby stores, retailers, and other community leaders. You will also serve as a key source of Korean player insight for Riftbound’s regional and global teams, ensuring community needs and sentiment inform how we communicate, activate, and evolve the player experience. You are a community-focused strategist and hands-on operator who understands how authentic relationships, clear communication, and memorable experiences can turn interest in a new game into a healthy, enduring player community. 

You will report to Director, Publishing of the team.

Responsibilities

• Community Strategy and Development. Develop and execute Riftbound’s community strategy for Korea in alignment with regional and global product and publishing priorities; Identify the communities, platforms, partnerships, and experiences most important to growing Riftbound in the Korean market; Build programs that support player acquisition, onboarding, engagement, advocacy, and long-term community health; Adapt global community initiatives for Korean players while identifying opportunities for original local programs; Establish clear objectives and success measures for community initiatives, and evolve plans based on performance and player feedback; Help Riftbound establish a distinct, welcoming, and culturally relevant identity within Korea’s TCG and gaming communities.
• Player Relationships and Community Insight. Build trusted relationships with Korean players, collectors, competitive players, community leaders, and fan groups; Maintain an active presence across the digital and physical spaces where Korean Riftbound players gather; Gather, analyze, and communicate player sentiment, emerging issues, and community opportunities to internal partners; Translate community feedback into actionable recommendations for publishing, organized play, product, and player-experience teams; Identify changes in player behavior, cultural trends, and the local TCG landscape that may affect Riftbound’s community strategy; Advocate for Korean players while balancing community needs, product goals, and business priorities.
• Organized Play and Hobby Ecosystem. Partner with Organized Play, publishing, and commercial teams to support a healthy competitive and casual-play ecosystem in Korea; Develop relationships with hobby stores, tournament organizers, judges, community groups, and other grassroots partners; Support community-facing programs around product launches, organized-play milestones, tournaments, conventions, and retail activations; Identify barriers to participation and recommend programs that make Riftbound approachable for new players while supporting established TCG audiences; Help create meaningful connections between digital engagement, local store play, competitive events, and broader community experiences; Evaluate the health of Riftbound’s Korean community using qualitative feedback and quantitative signals.
• Influencer and Community Partner Programs; Develop and execute community-focused creator programs in partnership with publishing and influencer-marketing teams; Identify and build relationships with influencers, community figures, and subject-matter experts who authentically connect with Korean TCG and gaming audiences; Support creator onboarding, product education, campaign activations, and community experiences; Develop clear briefs, toolkits, and guidance that help creators and community partners communicate accurately and authentically; Evaluate potential partners based on audience fit, credibility, community impact, and alignment with Riot’s values; Track program performance and use insights to strengthen long-term creator and community relationships.
• Community & Social Media Channels. Partner with publishing, social, player support, PR, and product teams to develop clear and community-first communications; Help maintain an authentic and consistent Riftbound voice across Korean community channels including social media, community platforms and events; Create or adapt messaging related to product launches, organized play, community programs, player education, and emerging issues; Support responses to sensitive or fast-moving community topics by providing player context and recommending appropriate communication approaches; Ensure Korean players receive timely, accurate, and culturally appropriate information; Identify opportunities to celebrate community accomplishments, player stories, creators, stores, and local events.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration. Serve as the Korea community partner for Riftbound’s regional and global teams; Collaborate with Publishing, Organized Play, Brand, Social, Influencer Marketing, Communications, Player Support, Insights, and Commercial teams; Represent Korean community perspectives in campaign planning, launch readiness, and ongoing product discussions; Coordinate with agencies and external partners supporting community programs and events; Manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders while maintaining clear priorities, timelines, and communication; Share Korean market learnings and effective community practices with teams supporting Riftbound in other regions.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in community management, publishing, marketing, communications, social media, or a related discipline. Experience developing and executing community programs for games, entertainment, consumer products, or hobby audiences.
• Strong understanding of Korean gaming communities, digital platforms, cultural trends, and player behaviors.
• Experience building relationships with players, creators, community leaders, event organizers, retailers, or other external partners.
• Demonstrated ability to gather community sentiment and translate qualitative and quantitative insights into recommendations.
• Experience leading complex programs involving multiple internal stakeholders, agencies, or vendors.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt messaging for different community audiences.
• Ability to independently manage priorities, solve ambiguous problems, and move programs from strategy through execution.
• Fluency in Korean and English, both written and spoken.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working within trading card games, tabletop games, hobby entertainment, organized play, or competitive gaming; Familiarity with Korea’s TCG ecosystem, including hobby stores, tournament organizers, creators, collectors, and competitive communities.
• Experience supporting the launch of a new game, entertainment product, or consumer brand in Korea; Experience developing creator, ambassador, volunteer, or grassroots community programs.
• Familiarity with social listening, community-health measurement, and channel-performance analysis; Experience managing community agencies, event vendors, or external production partners.
• Understanding of physical product, retail, distribution, or inventory considerations within a hobby-game ecosystem.
• Personal interest in trading card games and a strong appreciation for the motivations of competitive players, collectors, casual players, and fans.
