Arcade Technical Specialist
Job Summary
The Arcade Technical Specialist is a hands-on technical role responsible for assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial arcade games. The position also participates in field product testing, customer installations and service, and industry trade shows throughout North America. Previous hands-on experience working with commercial arcade/amusement games is required.
The position is based at our North American office in Texas and reports to the Senior Product Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
Arcade Technical Support & Field Service
- Assemble, configure, test, install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial arcade games.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, PC, and hardware-related issues and perform necessary repairs or component replacements.
- Perform game setup, calibration, software updates, and operational testing.
- Travel to customer locations for game installations, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, assembly instructions, and other technical documentation.
- Work directly with customers and internal Technical Support to diagnose and resolve product issues.
- Serve as a hands-on technical resource for LAI Games products.
Product Testing & Quality
- Participate in testing new games, product updates, components, and proposed technical solutions.
- Conduct field testing at operator locations to evaluate game performance, reliability, serviceability, and customer experience.
- Identify and document product quality, installation, maintenance, and service issues.
- Work with Product Operations, Quality, Technical Support, and R&D to troubleshoot issues and test proposed solutions.
- Prepare clear reports and feedback regarding testing results and technical findings.
- Support the introduction and technical handoff of new products to the Technical Support Team.
Technical Documentation & Training
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of operator manuals, installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, and other technical documentation.
- Verify assembly procedures, game settings, components, wiring, and other technical information against the physical game.
- Take photographs and document procedures as needed to support technical materials.
- Assist with hands-on training for Technical Support and other internal teams on new products and technical procedures.
Trade Shows & Special Projects
- Travel to industry trade shows and customer events to provide technical support.
- Prepare, test, and configure games prior to shipment.
- Support onsite installation, setup, troubleshooting, and dismantling of equipment.
- Ensure appropriate tools, spare parts, and technical materials are available to support show equipment.
- Participate in special installations, field trials, and other Product Operations projects as needed.
Equipment & Work Area
- Maintain arcade machines, tools, test equipment, spare components, and technical work areas in an organized and professional condition.
- Follow appropriate safety procedures when assembling, moving, installing, and servicing equipment.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience working with commercial arcade, amusement, FEC, or coin-operated gaming equipment is required.
- Demonstrated experience assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing arcade games.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with common arcade components, including wiring, power supplies, switches, sensors, motors, displays, PCs, controllers, and I/O boards.
- Ability to use hand tools and electronic diagnostic equipment and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to clearly document technical findings and testing results.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations, field testing, installations, and industry trade shows.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on business and customer needs.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or electronics training preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience as an Arcade Technician, Amusement Technician, FEC Technician, Game Technician, Field Service Technician, or similar role.
- Experience working in family entertainment centers, arcades, amusement venues, or with amusement equipment distributors/manufacturers.
- Experience with redemption games, video games, simulators, VR attractions, or other commercial amusement equipment.
- Experience supporting trade shows, new venue openings, or large-scale game installations.
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on technical position requiring the ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, use hand tools, and work in and around commercial arcade machines. The position requires the ability to assist with the assembly, installation, positioning, and servicing of arcade equipment and to lift and move components associated with game installation and repair.
