Game Engineer
Moon Active is one of the world’s fastest-growing mobile game companies, providing entertainment to millions of active users across the universe. The company is headquartered in the heart of Tel Aviv.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Game Engineer to take a key role in developing our next-generation games. In this role, you will be deeply involved in shaping the core gameplay experience, building robust client architecture in Unity, and taking end-to-end ownership of features - from smooth client interactions to lightweight, scalable backend development.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and maintainable game features.
Drive features from initial technical design to production, taking responsibility for both client-side logic and the necessary backend endpoints/services
Optimize and scale both client-side gameplay and backend systems for millions of players, ensuring a high-performance, seamless experience across the entire technical stack.
Implement both client and server logic with robust network protocols, state synchronization, and data persistence that seamlessly scale
Work closely with Product Managers, Game Designers, and Artists to iterate quickly on new mechanics and features
Requirements
4+ years of mobile game development experience, with Unity expertise
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, design patterns, and data-driven development principles
Practical experience with Client-Server systems (APIs, WebSockets, JSON/Protobuf) and state synchronization
Deep knowledge of mobile optimization, performance profiling, and memory management
Experience with local/remote data persistence, unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines
Strong product orientation, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Advantages
Hands-on experience writing backend code/services (Node.js, C#, Go, or Serverless functions).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure) and managed cloud services.
Experience with LiveOps frameworks, A/B testing, and remote config pipelines.
