Senior Legal Counsel

HyperHug is an international game development studio specializing in the shooter genre. Our main office is based in Cyprus, but our talented team works remotely from around the world. This is a unique opportunity to establish and own the legal department at HyperHug, the creator of Oxide: Survival Island—a multiplayer survival shooter that has engaged over 100 million players worldwide. We're looking for an experienced law leader to join our Limassol office and oversee our global legal strategy.

As our Senior Legal Counsel, you will take on a broader remit than most in-house roles. You’ll build, implement, and maintain the corporate, commercial, and employment framework, protect our intellectual property across international markets, collaborate closely with product teams to help launch new features, and work directly with founders and key stakeholders. What You'll Do

• Lead Operational Excellence: Build and maintain corporate, commercial and employment framework.

• Drive Commercial & IP Strategy: Protect and commercialise the IP behind the company’s game and brand.

• Partner with Product: Work with product, design and marketing teams on new features and designs.

• Own the Platform Relationship: Develop terms, in-app purchase, subscription rules and refunds.

• Protect Players and Data: Own terms of service, privacy policies, GDPR compliance, and the requirements of the Apple App Store and Google Play. Own player safety and child protection: age rating, age assurance, parental controls, moderation and reporting.

• Negotiate Commercial Deals: Draft and negotiate publishing, distribution, platform, UA and outsourcing agreements.

What You'll Need

• Experience: 7+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in Corporate, Commercial and IP at a Cypriot or UK law firm or Big 4 company; Candidates combining top-tier law firm or Big 4 experience with in-house experience at a leading video game, IT or tech company will also be considered.

• Education: A UK or Cypriot bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) is required; other jurisdictions will not be considered given Cyprus's common law framework. An LL.M. and/or legal ranking recognition is a strong advantage.

• Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in intellectual property law.

• Compliance Expertise: Applied GDPR experience beyond policy drafting, and working knowledge of app store policy in practice (Apple and Google developer terms, in-app purchase, subscription and refund rules) and player safety/content moderation obligations for a multiplayer game.

• Language Skills: Native-level Greek and fluent English (written and spoken).
